Sonja Christiansen, Director

Ms. Christiansen started studying various modalities of integrated healing at age twenty under local practitioners and teachers. In 1972 she became one of the first professional massage therapists in the State of Maine.

As Ms. Christiansen worked with her clients in those early days she discovered other needs of her community. She worked with several different groups to assist the women of the community. She assisted in the re-writing of welfare legislation to better support start up businesses as a way of self support and to eliminate welfare dependence.

She was a community liaison between traditional businesses, banks, civic groups and low income women to develop low income programs with a view to helping these women into self supportive lives.

She became Financial Development Director of her local Red Cross chapter. In this position she helped develop funding for emergency services, and unite the Red Cross with other community services to better react to the needs of her community. She also co-coordinated disaster relief between her local chapter and other chapters within the state as well as on a national level.

In her spare time she developed the Focused Healing method of energy healing, and founded Healing Focus Center for Holistic Studies. In this capacity Ms. Christiansen has written several books, published an on-line newsletter, written a recurring column in her new hometown paper, produced an instructional video on “Massage, the Healing Touch”, produced a meditation CD, taught seminars and taken her classes to adult education and post secondary education.

As a result of her work in these fields she has won several awards, been a member of several Governors Task Forces, Delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business, was awarded the SBA Women in Business Advocate Award and was a Delegate for People to People in the Peoples Republic of China.

This has led her to here and now. She and her husband, Ed Webber  bring together their talents and desire to help others.
